Get Noticed, Stand Out Through Developing Content that has an Edge

Presented by:

Carl Friesen
Certified Management Consultant

Many consultants face challenges in getting noticed by potential clients, and standing out as providing superior value.  You may have heard that one way to get an edge is through Content Marketing – developing information your prospects will find useful, to showcase your abilities. This “content” can include White Papers, blogs, articles and electronic resources such as videos and podcasts.

But how do you get that content to where potential clients will find it? Through this presentation, you’ll learn the skills needed to give your content an edge … so that you’ll have an edge in getting recognition for what you offer. You’ll learn:

  • How to find the media relied upon by gate-keepers in your target markets: websites of professional associations, business magazines (their print presence as well as online), influential blogs, Twitter feeds, LinkedIn groups
  • Building relationships with editors and other gatekeepers, to get their buy-in to your idea before you invest time in the creative process
  • Developing content that will be attractive to these media (White papers, articles, podcasts, slide shows and videos)
  • The themes of “greed” and “fear” and how to make them work for your content – and approaches including the “trend,” the “how-to” and the “case study”
  • Leverage for your work – reprints, re-use of your ideas in other media, gaining speaking engagements based on expertise demonstrated through content development
